A sweet beginning…

October 26th, 2009

I was lucky in August when the mother of a friend, who had tried my treats, referred Cassandra & JW to me for a wedding cake. When we met, it was love (of cupcakes) at first sight! We hit it off right away, and got to work designing a knockout wedding cake, and poured over every detail, from the custom cupcake tower, to the flavors, the toppers, and the custom cutting cake. I loved working with Cassandra and JW, and their cake exceeded not only my expectations, but theirs as well! I think the pictures speak volumes for how much I loved this project! Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Lazzari, here’s to a wonderful, and sweet life together!wedding!

A Swoon-worthy cause!

I was honored when Michelle Depoali asked me to make treats for her first annual Wear it Again Soiree benefiting the Reno Cancer Foundation.  I was happy to “bake” my part to help women battling reproductive cancer in Reno! No tricks–just TREATS! Fall specials have arrived!

September 29th, 2009

October marks the beginning of my favorite time of year–the holidays! I am celebrating with lots of festive treats, and new fall packaging, beautiful kraft brown boxes, with fall-themed ribbon, tags and embellishments! I am making pumpkin-spice cupcakes with orange-cream cheese frosting & fun and festive “Boo-Cakes” (my classic white cupcakes with swirled orange, green, and purple frosting with spooky sprinkles, topped with candy corn of course! I am also baking up batches of hauntingly delicious sugar cookies in ghosts, pumpkins, and black cats (my niece’s favorite)! If you are looking for something fall festive, but not Halloween specific, try my “Leaves & Acorn” sugar cookies, they are beautiful and delicious! Cupcakes are $20/dozen & cookies are $18/dozen.

Happy October!

I do…love these favors!

September 18th, 2009

Here are the completed favors I did for Mike & Annie’s wedding at Tahoe. Each 2 inch, kraft-brown box contained four miniature cookies: classic chocolate chip, chewy chocolate gingerbread, snickerdoodle, and one lemon blossom. The boxes were tied up with beautiful ribbon that doubled as the indicator for meal choice: purple=steak, green=chicken….and finally, the packages were topped with two handmade tags, the bottom, patterned tag read, “Mike & Annie 9-12-09, and the  top was the place card done by the Mother-of-the-Bride in calligraphy. These favors were a huge hit with all of the guests…and those of you who took more than one, well, you know who you are…

Congratulations Annie & Mike, here’s to a sweet beginning!!!

These cupcakes were perhaps the most fun so far! To help celebrate a little girl’s second birthday, we rounded up the whole Seasame Street gang!

WOOOOOOOOPIE!!! Courtney and Mark are getting married!!!

August 10th, 2009

What a wonderful weekend celebrating my cousins, and marriage! While I was at the bridal shower for Annie (previous post), I got a message letting me know that my cousin Courtney and her wonderful boyfriend Mark  got engaged!!! We celebrated last night with a family engagement barbecue, and I made Woopie Pies, fitting for such a joyous occasion! I made some special coloful versions for the kiddos (I think you can tell they liked them!) and a variety of fillings for the kids at heart: chocolate, peanut butter, vanilla and mocha! They are a fun, retro treat…like a piece of cake you can hold like a sandwich! I’ll be adding these to my menu, as they were a smash hit!

Congratulations Courtney & Mark!!!

Butterflies and buttercream!

August 10th, 2009

My cousin Annie (below left) is getting married in September, and my cousin Mandy (below right) threw the most wonderful bridal shower this weekend! It was a garden brunch, with fresh herbs, fresh air, and butterflies everywhere! I made double chocolate cupcakes, and lemon curd-filled cupcakes with lemon buttercream. They were just beautiful!anniemandybutterflieslanternsmonarchlemonyellow
